Process 12 - Copper

In my artistic exploration, I have delved into the intriguing interplay between copper and photographic film, drawing inspiration from the industrial copper landscape of Cornwall. To create my artwork, I sourced copper from this captivating region, symbolizing its rich history and significance.

Within this artistic endeavor, I integrated photographic film between the copper sheets, fostering a symbiotic relationship between the two materials. This juxtaposition represents the dynamic dialogue between the industrial landscape and the medium of photography itself.

To further enhance the connection between the artwork and its origin, I developed a photographic developer using materials and water sourced exclusively from the same landscape. This intentional choice allowed me to infuse the essence of the Cornwall landscape directly into the photographic process, bridging the gap between the physicality of the copper and the captured imagery.

Through this immersive exploration, I aim to illuminate the inherent connections between materiality, place, and artistic expression, offering a unique perspective on the interplay between the industrial landscape, the transformative power of photography, and the creative potential that lies within.
